Municipality begins opening outdoor rinks

Last Updated Nov 29, 2017 at 1:41 pm MDT

Outdoor ice rinks have started to opening ahead of time in the region, with four out of 10 already open.

The municipality builds and maintains the rinks throughout the winter, if you arrive to an open rink and it’s closed, it’s due to necessary maintenance, such as flooding, to ensure safe and enjoyable experiences on the rinks.

The following rinks are open for use:

  • Gregoire – Greely Road School
  • Timberlea – Stone Creek Rink
  • Timberlea – Brett Drive between Timberlea and St. Anne’s Schools
  • Thickwood – Signal Road at Hinge Bay Park

Depending on weather and snowfall events, the RMWB is aiming to have the rest of the rinks to open in about two weeks.

You’re being reminded to stay off the rinks until they are officially open, skating too early can cause delays.

Rinks in the region are unsupervised, making it extremely important to use the area safely and responsibly, including wearing a helmet.
