The President and Chief Executive Officer of Keyano College has handed in her resignation.

Dr. Tracy Edwards wrote a Facebook post Thursday evening, citing her husband’s health concerns.

Edwards and her husband will be moving back to Vermillion to be closer to Edmonton to get the healthcare he needs.

After serving as interim for several months and providing important leadership from the beginning, including during and after the wildfire evacuation, Edwards was permanently appointed the role in Sept. 2016, replacing Kevin Nagel.

She says she has loved her time at Keyano.

“It saddens me that I have to leave at this juncture; but I have great faith in the strength and resilience of our faculty and staff,” she added.

Her last day at the college will be March 6, 2018.

A strategy will be developed in the coming weeks to recruit a new leader for the college. In the meantime, Dr. Brenda Sautner, the college’s Vice-President, Academic, will be appointed Interim President and CEO.
