The load limit on the Fort Chipewyan winter road increased to 15,000 kg on Friday, Jan. 5.
Cconstruction and maintenance on the entire length of the winter road is ongoing including mulching in the right of way from the South Gate to the Firebag Bridge.
The delta area has rough sections so reduce speed and drive to conditions. High clearance 4×4 vehicles are recommended.
Remember there are no regular services like road patrol, gas stations or cell phone coverage, always be prepared for emergencies, obey all posted signage and watch for workers on the road.
