Man killed in tractor-trailer collision on Highway 63

A collision between two semi-tractors that shutdown Highway 63 northbound for several hours Sunday evening left one 26-year-old man dead.

“A semi-tractor was parked along the side of the highway and the driver was out of the vehicle adjusting his load when it was struck by another semi-tractor,” noted the Boyle RCMP in a press release. “The 26-year-old male driver from Chilliwack, B.C., was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

The driver of the moving truck suffered minor injuries.

Mounties from the Boyle detachment, along with an RCMP Collision analyst are still investigating. The parked semi was hauling PVC piping, which wound up blocking the highway. Driving conditions at the time of the accident, roughly 4:30 p.m., were clear.

Police will not be releasing the name of the deceased.
