The Northern Lights Regional Health Centre will have three family friendly palliative care suites created.

The Northern Lights Health Foundation (NLHF) announced on Tuesday that after three consecutive years of the Jeremy Snook Memorial Raffle, the $1.5 million fundraising goal has been met.

Brian and Gail Snook held the annual raffle in memory of their son Jeremy who was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and passed away at 19.

Over the three years, the raffle raised approximately $318,500 in memory of Jeremy for the Palliative Care Suite project. An additional $341,500 was collected in Jeremy’s name through personal or corporate donations, totalling $660,000.

“This raffle was an amazing fundraiser for the Palliative Care Suites Project and was a celebration of the life of a wonderful young man. We were so blessed to have tremendous advocates like Brian and Gail Snook work together with us on this initiative. Their passion for making a difference in our community in memory of their son is truly remarkable,” said Cindy Amerongen, Executive Director of the Health Foundation.

The renovations will include new patient suites with adjoining family rooms, which will provide a home-like atmosphere where patients and loved ones can be comfortable during end of life care.

The $16 million Gratitude Campaign is 73 per cent complete, donations are being accepted for the Minimally Invasive Surgical Suites project.

The Jeremy Snook Memorial Raffle will not be held in 2018.
