A free monthly legal clinic is setting up shop in Fort McMurray.

Volunteer lawyers will provide up to 30 minutes of free legal advice for different areas of law including family, employment, immigration, civil and tenant.

Kathy Parsons, executive director of Central Alberta Community Legal Clinic said the clinic is meant to help low-income people.

“We will organize them with lawyers who practice in the area of law they need help in and they will get some summary legal advice and some options and steps to move forward to resolve their problem,” said Parsons.

The clinics will be held at 9816 Hardin St., on every second and fourth Tuesday of the month.

The first will be Jan. 23, 2018.

“We know the need up there is really high, we are just trying to do our best to help leverage the volunteer ethic of lawyers and see that people get at least summary legal advice to solve their problems,” added Parsons.

Clients can call to see if they qualify for an appointment using the toll-free number 587-674-2282.
