The United Way of Fort McMurray’s 2017 Community Campaign raised a total of $6 million.

The campaign, which kicked off on Sept. 7, included thousands of individuals from across the community who volunteered or donated.

New initiatives for the 2017 campaign, including the Red Menu Campaign, were added in an effort to broaden community awareness.

Tony Mankowski, President of the United Way Board of Directors says there is still a lot of work to be done.

“We are committed to working hard with our partner agencies to ensure maximum community impact with the available funds.”

New initiatives and incredible generosity from the community produced fantastic results for the campaign, but they fell short of the projected community need goal of $7.1 million.

The goal of the United Way Fort McMurray is to improve lives through education, social innovation, and by engaging our community.
