Fort McMurrayite skis onto Olympic Team

Another Fort McMurrayite is headed to the Olympics in PyeongChang.

Graeme Killick, 28, qualified for the 2018 Canadian Olympic Team, thanks to his world cup scores over the last two years.

This will be Killick’s second Olympic Games, he made his first appearance for Canada at the 2014 Sochi Games.

In Russia he competed in four events, placing 28th in the 50 kilometre freestyle, 12th in the 4×10 relay, 65th in the 15 kilometre classical and 45th in the skiathlon.

Killick started skiing at four years old in the Jackrabbit program at Ptarmigan Nordic.

Killick is one of 11 team members, Tom Holland, high performance director of Cross Country Canada said in a press release they are on the podium hunt.

“This is a team that has evolved from a group of talented athletes excited to be on the start line into a group of determined high-performers focused, and confident in their ability to achieve international podium results.”

The Olympic Games run Feb. 9-25.
