The Fort McMurray Airport Authority is requesting proposals for a new service station, car wash and retail/restaurant concession development at the airport.

The request is a part of the ongoing efforts to become Canada’s premiere regional airport and hub for commercial and industrial activities in the region.

Rod Hunchak, Vice President Commercial of the Fort McMurray Airport Authority says the goal of the development is to enhance the airport experience.

“This new service station will offer a convenient and efficient option to purchase gasoline and other products and services, for both those who use the airport campus and those who live and work in the surrounding communities.”

Proposals will be accepted from qualified firms to undertake the design, construction, operation and management of a nationally branded service station for a minimum of 30 years, with a potential to renew.

The successful candidate would invest their own resources and collect the revenue in exchange for the use of the land and minimum rent.

Project proposals will be open until 3 p.m. on Apr. 5, 2018.
