Fort McKay will host the Métis Nation of Alberta (MNA) 90th Annual General Meeting this August.

The event, which brings over 500 Métis people from across the province together, celebrates Métis culture and creates discussions on land claims, Métis rights and MNA program spending.

Fort McKay Metis President Ron Quintal said they’re excited to showcase their community and the RMWB.

“We are thrilled to host this important and high-profile event. Our community is small, but the Fort McKay Metis are investing almost $1.4 Million in accessible meeting infrastructure including a pavilion, and we have secured more than enough rooms at a nearby executive lodge, with shuttle service to and from the event,”

Fort McKay is one of the most successful Métis communities in the province, owning land and houses, providing programs and services, all without funding from the MNA or government. They also own a group of ten companies employing more than 300 workers and generating millions in revenue for its members.

The region last hosted the AGM in 2012 in Athabasca.

The annual event is August 10th-12th.
