Pride YMM has launched a new program to promote safer spaces in our community.
Rainbow Spaces Initiative will recognize organizations that have taken steps to be more inclusive of LGBTQ+ individuals.
“We’re really excited to launch this new program,” said Jason Beck, Pride YMM committee member. “Having safer spaces is important for the LGBTQ+ community and this program works to reduce the fear and anxiety in accessing services that many within the LGBTQ+ community face. The momentum within the region to respect and promote diversity and human rights has been great to see and we hope that this program builds on the work already underway.”
Under the program guidelines, organizations will be able to follow concrete steps to become a more inclusive environment and once complete they will be provided with a rainbow space sticker that identifies them as an LGBTQ+ safe space.
