The Salvation Army’s Kettle Campaign is continuing to help those in need well after the holidays.

In 2017 the campaign raised over $200,000, exceeding their goal of $160,000 thanks to a significant donation from Local Union 92.

Major Stephen Hibbs of The Salvation Army said the $50,000 donation from Local Union 92 was distributed between Family Services, Community Response Unit (CRU) and the MAT program.

“It’s always Christmas at The Salvation Army, we’re continually giving.”

The funds continue to help the MAT program with warm clothing and footwear as needed and the CRU vehicle, which is a mobile kitchen, that goes out two nights a week to meet with those who don’t come into the shelters.

The MAT program was increased from eight months a year to year-round in the fall of 2017, providing 35 spaces for people to sleep, shower and eat.
