The Wood Buffalo Food Bank’s (WBFB) annual spring food drive proved once again that residents in our region are extremely generous.

Trucks and volunteers were stationed at every grocery store in Fort McMurray and Anzac on Saturday and Sunday collecting various items needed by the organization, along with monetary donations.

Executive Director of the WBFB Arianna Johnson said that they found it significantly harder to fill volunteer positions for this year’s food drive.

“Without the generosity of this community the ever-growing number of families utilizing our services would struggle that much more to achieve nutrition and food security.”

In just two days the WBFB surpassed their food goal of 40,000 lbs, bringing in 55,052 lbs and came very close to their monetary goal of $30,000 raising $25,657.95.
