Five arrested using "bait car" program

Five individuals are facing 20 charges after stealing “bait cars”.

The Wood Buffalo RCMP said since March 28th they’ve been using a “bait car” program that targets individuals who steal or attempt to steal vehicles and items in the region.

The “bait car” program has result in 20 charges, 18 executed warrants and the following charges laid:

  • One male, 33, from Fort McKay charged with theft of motor vehicle, two counts of obstruction, and failure to comply
  • One female, 26, from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, possession of drugs and four counts of failure to comply
  • One male, 37, from Fort McMurray, charged with theft of motor vehicle, impaired operation of motor vehicle, driving while disqualified/prohibited and operating a motor vehicle without holding licence
  • One female, 30, from Gregoire Lake Reserve, charged with three counts of failure to comply
  • One female, 35, of Gregoire Lake Reserve, charged with two counts of failure to comply

 

The RCMP are not releasing the names of the individuals because court proceedings have already started.
