A decision for the future of Dunvegan Gardens has been pushed back another week by council.

Dunvegan applied to re-zone its two properties from their current zoning to Direct Control Village Commercial District on April 11, 2017.

The change would allow the following uses:

Council heard from over 30 people from across the municipality, the majority against the zone change.

Susan Smith, who has lived on Draper Road since 2009, said she doesn’t want to see the community commercialized any more than it already is.

“This illegal business has been allowed to operate for several years knowingly breaking the bylaws of our community.”

When asked if he thought any of his actions were illegal, Brad Friesen, owner and operator of Dunvegan said the only thing he recalls is the water scandal around 2006, when they were using water from the Clearwater River.

Administration recommended council refuse the submitted application for 10 main reasons, including a survey done of Draper residents which showed the majority do not support commercial activities.

The final decision will be presented by council on May 15.
