A Fort McMurray born hockey player will play for the Mastercard Memorial Cup.

Kole Gable and the Swift Current Broncos are one of four teams vying for the top spot in the country.

The Broncos booked their ticket with a 3-0 win over the Everett Silvertips Sunday night.

Gable told MyMcMurray that the win felt surreal.

“You work all summer and all season for that moment.”

Gable has played two season with the Broncos, in 68 games this year he earned six goals and ten assists.

As the Broncos prepare to face off against teams they’ve never played, Gable said all they have to do is focus on themselves.

“We just have to worry about ourselves, play our game and I think we’ll be fine,” said Gable.

Going into the championship Gable notes that the stakes are high and getting to play against the best of the best takes a lot to win.

The Mastercard Memorial Cup kicks off May 18-27 in Regina, Saskatchewan.

The Broncos join host team, the Regina Pats, Hamilton Bulldogs and Acadie-Bathurst Titan in the tournament.
