Jane Stroud, current Ward 4 Councillor and Fort McMurray-Conklin Candidate is pleased with the deal for the Trans Mountain pipeline.

“Our region has needed better access to markets for our resources for years, I’m glad to see the deal is done,” said Stroud.  “I’m proud of Rachel Notley and the Alberta government for standing up for this project and fighting for the hard-working people of our region who have been driving Alberta and Canada’s economy for so long.”

With the expansion of the pipeline, Stroud believes the region will be able to flourish and not only see a better profit for our oil resources but also be able to improve many other resources in the community such as our health care.

“I believe it will create sustainability in Wood Buffalo,” said Stroud.  “From the sustainability I believe it will bring developers to our region and entice medical personnel that we need to move to our municipality,.”

Along with the $4.5 billion investment from the Federal government, Alberta will potentially contribute by investing up to $2 billion to help ensure the project goes ahead.

“It’s important to note that no funding is committed until all oil starts to flow, at that point our investment would be converted to equity, maximizing return for Alberta,” said Stroud.

Ultimately, if the project sees completion, Stroud sees the region getting fair prices for our products and that the region, Alberta and Canada will benefit as a whole.
