The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) and the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo (RRC) will be sharing human resources, communication and safety services.

This comes after RMWB Council approved the 2018-2021 strategic plan in January 2018 that included a commitment to the exploration of shared services and fiscal responsibility.  During the budgeting process in February of 2018, Council approved the motion to direct administration to begin working on sharing the services with the RRC and together they have developed a shared services model.

“The RRC is committed to meeting our vision of making a positive difference each day in the communities we serve,” said Bruno Francoeur, Chair of the RRC Board of Directors. “We are also committed to fiscal responsibility and are pleased to approve this new partnership model with the RMWB which will see a reduction in duplication of services, allowing us to maximize cost efficiency and retain focus on delivering our mandate.”

The RRC operates MacDonald Island Park, the Anzac Recreation Centre and provides life guarding services to the Sonny Felt Aquatic Centre.
