Women in the region will be able to have a mammogram without having to leave their communities

The Alberta Health Services Screen Test program will be stationing a mobile mammography trailer at the follow locations:

  • Fort McKay –  Dorothy McDonald Business Centre on June 12 and 13
  • Fort McMurray – Fort McMurray #468 First Nation Band Office on June 19 and 20
  • Janvier – Father R. Perrin Community School, 129 Northland Drive, on June 21.

A mammogram is an X-ray of the breast and has proven to be the most effective way to detect breast cancer and early detection provides more treatment options and a greater chance of survival.

Women ages 50-74 are most at risk of developing breast cancer and through the Screen Test will now have access to mammography.
