Green party announces byelection candidate

Representing the Green Party in the upcoming byelection will be Brian Deheer.

Deheer is a former is a former Deputy Leader of the Green Party of Alberta and currently resides in Lac La Biche where he teaches music.

He has been doing environmental work for the past 25 years, he founded Northern CARE, a community-based recycling advocacy group and has worked on a conservation project for the Alberta Wilderness Association in Fort McMurray.

Deheer has been a federal candidate with the Green Party of Canada twice and once represented the Green Party of Alberta.

“I believe in the Green Party’s plan to transition to a smarter, green economy,” said Deheer in a press release. “We should be protecting peoples’ health, livelihoods and communities. Oil and gas has brought great prosperity but it has come with some costs as well. We don’t have to put all of our eggs in one basket.”

The byelection is on July 12.
