Aerosmith hits Shell Place on Sunday

The Bad Boys from Boston are getting closer to Fort McMurray. Rock 97.9 is presenting Aerosmith when the band hits Shell Place this Sunday. Frontman Steven Tyler spoke on the Chris Byrne Program about the Blue Army Tour, which is bringing the band back to venues is hasn’t played in decades and new markets like Fort McMurray.

“We played the other night, it was 6,000 people in a bowl in Santa Barbara. And it was just, I mean I just remember looking out and the feeling I got from seeing all those people up close and personal. It’s pretty good,” said Tyler.

After stopping in Fort McMurray, Aerosmith gets on stage in cities from Las Vegas to Canton, Ohio. Tyler says  no show has really been the same. He promises Aerosmith fans will get their fill of everything they love about the band, and even a few cuts they’ll want to pull onto their playlists. Songs such as 1974’s “Seasons of Wither” or “One Way Street” from the year before, made it onto recent set lists.

“When I looked over and saw Joe Perry the other night, he was out of his mind. I mean he’s one of the last true rockstars. And Joey is doing his drum solo in the middle when he hasn’t done so in two years. Just different things, and just throwing songs that we haven’t played, just to play dare to suck. You know we just have a good time out there and we always hope it transcends into the audience and it’s never failed us yet,” he says.

While Tyler’s still taken aback by sharing the stage with his legendary bandmates, there’s parts of his own performance that he’s even surprised with.

“I believe you gotta lose yourself to gain yourself. You got to kind of, get free up there and then people feel the music a bit better,” said Tyler.

Tickets are available online or at guest services at Shell Place.
