Alberta and Nova Scotia pen agreement for apprentices

Alberta and Nova Scotia signed a deal that will make work and training easier for apprentices. Premier Jim Prentice and Premier Stephen McNeil met yesterday at the Alberta legislature. In a news release, Prentice said they’re working to improve the ability of apprentices to work in both provinces.

“Alberta and Nova Scotia have engaged in ongoing work to improve apprentice mobility between our provinces. Today, we signed agreements designed to improve apprentice mobility and promote the mutual recognition of pre-employment training between our provinces,” he states.

Prentice said the two provinces will continue their working relationship.

“Whether it’s at the Council of the Federation or one-on-one meetings like we had today, Alberta and Nova Scotia have a long history of working together,” states the premier.

Prentice said a strong labour market is helped significantly by labour mobility, and it contributes to economic growth, innovation and productivity.
