Alberta MLAs become 2nd-highest paid in country

Provincial politicians have approved a new pay plan for MLAs.

Politicians’ new salaries are 134 thousand dollars, with cabinet ministers and the speaker making 201 thousand and the premier just under 220 thousand.

It’ll make Alberta MLAs the second highest paid in the country behind Quebec.

But the legislature isn’t making a decision on MLA pensions yet – it’s going to study more options before coming up with a final choice.
