Alberta asks if mandatory drivers licences needed for TFWs

Alberta Transportation is asking Albertans for their input on potential changes to driver training and road testing which could change how Temporary Foreign Worker’s (TFW) gain their licenses in the province.

Although Christine Way, a spokesperson for Alberta Transportation, says the survey has nothing to do with the death of three TFW’s on Alberta’s roads this past weekend. She said the timing is a coincidence and there’s no evidence TFWs make the roads unsafe.

Currently TFW’s can drive with a valid license from their home country and an international driver’s license for up to 12 months, after which they need to obtain their Alberta permit.

You can find a link to the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BN2TLYF which will be available until Jan. 2, 2015.
