Energy and environment ministers viewing pipeline spill

Alberta’s energy minister says implement new rules for pipelines is a possibility.

Margaret McCuaig-Boyd says she wants to wait for the report on the Nexen Energy line that leaked five million litres of bitumen.

She’s joining Environment Minister Shannon Phillips to view the spill site south of Long Lake.

The two will comment on the spill, alongside First Nations officials.

Nexen crews have the area contained and they’re vaccuming up the mess.

The company doesn’t know when it will be done cleanup.
