Wood Buffalo Council has passed amendments to the single-use shopping bag bylaw.
In addition to the pre-existing exemptions for the ban, which included restaurants of all types, liquor stores, and pharmacies being allowed to give single-use bags to customers, more businesses have now been given the go-ahead to provide disposable shopping bags for more items.
Customers will now be able to get single-use bags when buying fragile items, items like flowers and meat, hazardous products and greasy items.
