Approval for re-zoning of Parsons Creek retirement home awaiting council approval

The Parsons Creek continuing care facility, once expected to be finished next spring, has been revived by the province.

The province’s contractor, has submitted an application for the re-zoning of the area to the city.

Alberta Infrastructure spokesman Rob Storrier says it’s going to take about two years.

“Once we receive the approval, it takes about seven months to get into construction, and in that time we do the final design, tendering, and all that type of stuff. And then the estimated time of construction after that is 18 months,” he said.

The facility will be right beside a health clinic that will also be built.

The project was originally supposed to be finished next spring, ahead of the city’s planned retirement home at Willow Square downtown.
