Arguments over Lougheed at Gateway hearings

Both sides at the hearings on the Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline are using the late Peter Lougheed to make their case.

Lawyers for Enbridge are quoting Lougheed as saying the west-coast pipeline should be approved.

But the Alberta Federation of Labour says Lougheed also wanted more upgrading done in Alberta, and that he was concerned about the pace of oilsands development.

Enbridge countered that building the pipeline wouldn’t do anything to stop upgraders being built in Alberta.
