Art About Art coming to Mac Island

A new exhibition is set to open at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery, but this time it’s art made by local students that will be on display.

Art About Art features the work of students from pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 who learned about public art projects and completed their own work inspired by those projects, The Miquwahkesis and The Seven Teachings, which were commissioned by the RRC.

“It is a genuine pleasure to showcase the efforts of the talented children and youth of our community in this exhibition,” said Annette Antoniak, Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Recreation Corporation of Wood Buffalo. “We are very excited to share our public art projects with the community and we hope the School Visits program has given local students the opportunity to learn more about public art in our region.”

The exhibit will be on display from December 1 to 27.

The opening reception for the Art About Art exhibition takes place at Noon on December 6 at the MacDonald Island Community Art Gallery presented by Kirschner Family Corporation. Light refreshments will be served and all community members are invited to attend.
