The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation says it’s found more deformed fish downstream from the oilsands in the Athabasca River.
The band is distributing pictures of a northern pike that appears to have a red lesion down its back, more lesions on its belly, and a sucker that appears to be covered in tumours.
The provincial government said this week that it’s moving forward on a plan to increase the number of monitoring sites by more than 50 per cent in the next three years.
