Dave Dupas is the new man behind the bench of the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. The MOB announced Dupas is joining the team this season as assistant head coach.

“The Oil Barons are one of the most well known and highly respected junior A programs in western Canada,” said Dupas in a news release. “ Every year, the Oil Barons compete at the top of the AJHL’s standings. I’m excited to join such a well respected and professional organization this season.”

Dupas spent almost five years as head coach for BC’s Prince George Spruce Kings. His career in junior hockey dates back to the 80s, when he was a defenseman with the BCHL’s New Westminister Royals. He played three seasons in the NCAA hockey for the Northern Arizona Univeristy IceJacks, then seven seasons of professional hockey in California. Dupas’ coaching carreer started in the mid 1990s.

“Dave’s a veteran coach that understands the importance of player development at the junior level,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca.

The MOB’s pre-season starts August 28 against the Whitecourt Wolverines.
