Boater still in Edmonton hospital in serious condition

A man is still in hospital in Edmonton following a boat trip on the Clearwater River.

Wood Buffalo RCMP got a call about a boat tied up with the inboard motor running at about 2 p.m. on Friday. Emergency crews rushed to the remote campsite for boaters which is about 80 kilometres east of the city.

Two men were pronounced dead, while Phoenix Heli-Flight airlifted a third man to hospitals in Fort McMurray and Edmonton.

The latest RCMP report says the man is still in Edmonton in serious condition.

Police say it looked like the men were about to sleep and a canopy was covering the boat. Investigators don’t believe foul play was involve, but suspect the men may have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.
