Japan- Toyota- GM

Economy Reports say the heads of Toyota and General Motors will meet in Tokyo to discuss technology exchanges and further strengthen co-operation. That comes amid worries in Japan of a political backlash over the huge success of Japanese automakers in the U-S market. Media reports say Toyota President Katsuaki Watanabe and G-M chief executive Rick Wagoner are to meet today in Tokyo. It would be their first meeting since Watanabe took office as head of Japan's biggest automaker. G-M and Toyota aren't commenting. Yesterday, General Motors Canada reported a double-digit drop in sales last month, while Toyota Canada had its best October ever. Analysts say the soaring gasoline prices of recent months led to a sharp drop in sales of gas-guzzlers made by General Motors and the rest of North America's Big Three automakers.
