A local cab driver is recovering from injuries after he was allegedly beaten.
Wood Buffalo RCMP says the United Class Cab driver was working in the parking lot of Gino’s pub in Thickwood Tuesday morning.
At about 2:30 a.m. the driver was found in the parking lot with injuries to his head.
The man was admitted to the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre. Separate police reports say he was in and out of consciousness when he arrived. Staff called police because of suspicious injuries to the victim’s head.
He was airlifted to an Edmonton hospital, and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
Constable Natasha Lytwenko says investigators will be working with Gino’s pub and surrounding businesses to determine what happened. She’s also asking anyone with information to call police.
