Cabinet ministers to meet with seniors

Several Conservative cabinet ministers are in the city this week, as a part of what’s being dubbed a “listening tour.”
Infrastructure Minister Jeff Johnson says that the PCs do this every year. Today, Johnson, along with Seniors Minister George Vanderburg and Health Minister Fred Horne will meet with the Golden Years Society. The purpose of that meeting is to have a dialogue about the upcoming long term care facility.
The province had initially announced they’d be building the centre at Willow Square downtown near the hospital. Plans have now changed, and the province says that the facility is set to be built in Parson’s Creek. Local seniors have expressed their concerns, and asked for a meeting with the ministers to let their thoughts be known.
The meeting is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Golden Years Society at 10111 Main Street. It’s open to the public.
