Charges Laid in SPCA Theft Investigation

Wood Buffalo RCMP were dispatched to the Fort McMurray SPCA on February 14, 2013 to respond to a complaint of a theft. The investigation revealed that shortly before 9:45 am, two individuals, one male and one female, attended the SPCA and removed four bags of cans/bottles that were left for donation. The two suspects were placing the stolen bags into a vehicle, when they were seen by an employee who recorded the license plate and made a report to RCMP.

Shortly after the initial complaint was dispatched police officers located both the suspects inside the suspect vehicle. The property was recovered and returned to the Fort McMurray SPCA. The male suspect, identified as 48 year-old James David JOSEPH, has been charged with several offences including Theft. The accused was remanded into custody on other matters, and is scheduled to appear in court in Fort McMurray on March 6, 2013.
