CMHC: Wood Buffalo housing starts fall for fifth month straight

For the fifth straight month, Wood Buffalo’s new house start-ups have dropped.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation says in June, there were 45 housing starts, compared to 112 last year – a drop of 60%

CMHC says multiples fell 74% from last year’s 95 to this year’s 25.

It did see one number rise- it’s single family homes; there were 20 started which is 18% more than last year’s June.

So far this year, 189 projects have been started in the region, a drop of 54% compared to this time last year.
