The Calgary Herald reports that CNRL has confirmed it’s the company that signed a more than half-billion dollar natural gas capture deal with Williams Energy.

That company will install equipment at the Horizon upgrader that will help reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 200 thousand tonnes per year, or 2 to 3 percent.

It’ll also reduce sulphur emissions, which cause acid rain.

The business will also cut down its operating expenses and improve environmental performance.

Williams will end up sending between 12 and 15 thousand barrels per day of gas from the site to a facility in Redwater.
