Judges for Communities in Bloom will be touring through Wood Buffalo as of next Wednesday they’ll stay in the region until Aug. 8.

The judges Gaétan Deschênes from Québec and Steve Preston of Ontario will be evaluating Wood Buffalo.

“When the National Communities in Bloom judges come to town we take them through a whirlwind tour through the community and region,” said Karen Puga, Lead Beautification Coordinator, RMWB. “They really take a detailed look on what the Municipality is doing, residents, community as well as business and institutions.”

National and International results will be announced in Kamloops, British Columbia in late September.

“Wood Buffalo has been doing really, really well we’ve achieved a five bloom status which is 82 per cent or higher on our scorecard and we actually tied as the winning community last year in our population category,” said Puga.

The region is now pitted against other past national champions in the Class of Champions category including Leduc, Charlottetown PEI, and Westmount QC.

Puga says people can help out by keeping their gardens and lawns tidy and beautifying their homes.
