Community Development Funding goes to 11 local groups

$300,000 of Community Development Funding has been spread out to 11 local groups this year.

The funding is given to groups for the delivery of preventive social programs, like helping peole build independence or strengthen coping skills, that will help build a caring community that supports wellness.

The 11 groups for the 2013 Community Development Funding are:

Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Wood Buffalo $56,000
Fort McMurray Boys & Girls Club $15,000
Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society $5,523
HUB Family Resource Center $23,750
Multicultural Association of Fort McMurray $18,000
Parents Association of the 868 Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron $46,075
Support Through Housing Team Society $34,200
Wood Buffalo Community Village $3,000
Wood Buffalo Educare Society $42,750
Wood Buffalo Senior Support Society $16,752
Woods Homes $38,950

The city says that the applications for funding were screened for compliance with the Family & Community Support Services Act & Regulations.

All applications and recommended allocations were reviewed and approved by the Community Services Committee.
