 Fort McMurray’s 9th Annual Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on Saturday, May 31st starting at the Doug Barnes Cabin at Birchwood Trail. Registration is at 10am, the walk at 11am and a BBQ at noon. Insulin is not a cure, please help us find one.  The Fort McMurray S.P.C.A. will be holding a “gently used” furniture sale on Saturday, May 31st at the Quality Inn. Suncor Energy Inc. has generously donated a wide variety of household furnishings and items from several apartments, and the shelter will benefit from all proceeds raised. Volunteers are also needed to help move items. Call Colleen at 799-0234 if you can help out!

 The Fort McMurray Métis Local 1935 Annual General Meeting will be held on June 7th starting with a Pancake Breakfast at 8:30am. The AGM for members runs 10am-12pm, followed by a BBQ Lunch from 1pm-3pm, Presentations and a BBQ Steak Dinner at 6pm, followed by live music and dancing to the band Nicely Put Together.  Water For Future Generations. On May 20th Seth Wotten will embark on the last leg of his cross continental canoeing expedition from Fort McMurray, to raise awareness about water related environmental issues. Seth will be giving a presentation on May 15th about his expedition at the Bob Lamb Centre at 8pm.

 The Fort McMurray Social Dance Club’s monthly dance will be held on May 16th at the Seniors Activity Centre-10111 Main Street, from 8:30pm to 12am.  The Dugout Coffee House and Youth Center will be observing International Anti-homophobia day on May 14th starting at 2pm. Activities include: team building activities, a movie, and refreshments.
