Construction in Gregoire causes closures

source: RMWB News Release

(Fort McMurray, AB – August 4, 2011) – Construction is continuing on the 2011 Gregoire Sanitary Sewer Project and residents are reminded of the road closures and parking restrictions, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo announced today.

Crews continue welding activities within the boulevard between Parent Way and Highway 63 on the first of two new 24-inch steel pipelines. As a result, on-street parking is not permitted on Parent Way between August 3 – September 30. The cul-de-sac at the north end of Parent Way will also be closed between August 3 – September 30 so that crews can off-load construction materials.

Commuters should note that there will also be a temporary over-night closure of Gregoire Drive at its intersection with Highway 63 during the week of August 15th (weather permitting). The disruption will last for approximately 6 to 12 hours through the evening and early morning. This closure will occur again September 19 – 22 for the second pipeline installation (weather permitting).

Construction for the entire project is planned for completion by September 30, 2011. Emergency vehicle access along Parent Way will be maintained at all times and business access will remain unaffected.

Thank you for your patience during the construction season. All efforts will be made to minimize disruptions whenever possible.
