Actress Daryl Hannah has been arrested in front of the White House along with other environmental protesters who oppose TransCanada’s proposed Keystone XL pipeline.
Before she was arrested, Hannah told WRC-TV the protesters want to be free from the “death and destruction” that fossil fuels cause. The group is calling for clean energy instead. She has been arrested for environmental causes in the past.
Demonstrators started their protest two weeks ago, to speak out against the Keystone XL pipeline that would take Alberta crude to Texas refineries.
Other celebrities to speak out against the project are Mark Ruffalo, as well as actresses Tantoo Cardinal and Margot Kidder, both of whom were arrested last week.
