Decision on Dover project coming soon for Athabasca Oil

It’s going to be a big week for Athabasca Oil Corporation.

The company expects to hear soon on whether the province will approve its 250-thousand barrel per day Dover project.

The Globe and Mail reports the decision could come as early as tomorrow, and the company reports its second quarter earnings on Wednesday.

The Fort McKay First Nation objected to the project because it couldn’t come to an agreement with the company on a buffer zone.

Dover is a SAGD project north west of the city – it’s a joint venture between Athabasca and PetroChina.
