Dover oil sands project gets cabinet approval

The provincial cabinet has approved the new Dover oil sands project, meaning all that’s left is a final permit from Alberta Environment.

The 250 thousand barrel per day SAGD project would be a joint venture between Athabasca Oil and PetroChina.

Recently, the Fort McKay First Nation withdrew its objection to the project over infringing on traditional land.

If the project gets final approval, Athabasca plans to sell its share to PetroChina for just over 1.3 billion dollars.
