Calgary Bow MLA Deborah Drever didn’t even last until her swearing in ceremony as a member of the NDP.

Incoming Alberta premier Rachel Notley has suspended the rookie member of her caucus over a controversial photo.

Notley says in a release that Deborah Drever will sit as an Independent after the government is sworn in on Sunday.

Drever had posted a photo of former Premier Jim Prentice and one of his cabinet ministers of Instagram. It featured doodles suggesting the two men are gay.

Drever’s status within the caucus will be re-evaluated within a year.

She had previously landed in hot water for a picture on her Facebook that featured her beside a shirt that promotes marijuana, and she posed on a casette cover back in 2012 where a band member appears to be hitting her with a bottle.
