The 36 year old woman who killed a 12-year old boy in a hit and run on Tuesday night near Athabasca has been charged.
Crystal Andres of Athabasca has been charged with dangerous driving causing death and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
She has been brought before the Justice of the Peace and has been released from custody.
Andres is scheduled to appear in Athabasca Provincial Court on Apr. 27, 2015.
The 12-year old boy was struck on Highway 55 in the Athabasca County limits at about 8:28 p.m on Mar. 17, 2015.
Andres was driving a 2006 Ford Freestar when she struck the child, propelling him into the ditch.
He would later succumb to his injuries in hospital.
Andres originally drove off, but turned herself into police around 11:00 p.m. that night.
