Enbridge says anti-Northern Gateway poll was misleading

Enbridge says a poll that showed British Columbians don’t want the Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline was misleading.

Several environmental groups released the poll results last week, showing 50 percent of the province strongly opposing the project, with only 12 percent strongly supporting, and only 29 percent total in favour.

But the company says the poll question told people that the project would mean supertankers using bodies of water called the Inside Passage, where they have never been allowed.

Enbridge says it has no plans to do that.

The poll also said the public isn’t involved in the review process, which Enbridge says is also false.
