Environmentalists say Keystone means big emissions boost

A new report says approving the proposed Keystone X.L pipeline would have a major impact on the climate.

It was published by Oil Change International – a coalition of environmental groups.

Executive Director Steve Kretzman says the U.S has to say ‘no’ if its serious about addressing climate change.

“Its a project that will carry and emmit at least 181million metric tonnes each year.

He says it would be like adding over 37-million cars to the road or 46 coal fired power plants.

That’s much more of an impact than the U.S. State Department’s environmental review said the pipeline would have.
