EPA asks Enbridge to do more cleanup

Enbridge is being told that it needs to do more cleanup of a two-year-old oil spill.

The Environmental Protection Agency has told the company that though they have cleaned up much of the spill, the company needs to do more in western Michigan’s Kalamazoo River.

In July 2010, a oil sands pipe ruptured spilling 20-thousand barrels of oil.

This issue creates controversy especially with theĀ  proposed Keystone XL pipeline that would run from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

The proposed EPA order is asking for the company to take preventative measures and have them installed by August of next year.

It has 10 days to request a conference with EPA.
